Early favorites for appointments include The Earth and Manchester by the Sea, which swept the awards of this year’s Golden Globe. Casey Affleck of Manchester by the Sea won the Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama, while La La Land won the six awards the film was nominated for. Moonlight, who won the award for Best Drama Motion Drama, is also considered a strong contender for this year’s Oscars.
